Questions About Our Services
As much as we love being able to help our customers however we can, we do not provide the following services: fence installation, power washing, snow plowing, roof and gutters clean ups.
-
Our preferred model is our Yearly Care Plans—a seasonally scheduled, proactive plan managed by one trusted team year-round. It’s ideal for homeowners who want hands-off, professional property care without managing multiple vendors.
-
Mowing is available only for customers enrolled in our Yearly Care Plans. Our care plans are designed to manage your property properly throughout the year—not as piecemeal visits.
-
If we are doing other work on your property, we have a great arborist we have partnered with for years that can address your tree needs. A preliminary site visit is required prior to providing a quote for cutting down a tree–so please contact us in order to arrange for this.
-
Yes. We do not install pavers or synthetic turf on surfaces smaller than 120 sq ft.
-
Yes! We love animals and if you’d like us to use specific non-toxic and pet-friendly products for the treatment of your lawn, we can certainly do that.
-
Yes, we have a native plant specialist on our team and we are happy to place you in our eco-friendly customer program.
-
Yes, we are happy to install plants you have already bought and provide recommendations on where they should be placed. Take a look at our Garden coaching section if you would like detailed assistance prior to installation. We can’t guarantee the survival of any plants bought by a customer since we can't verify their care or condition prior to planting.
-
The most expensive items in a landscape design are soil, mulch, and the size of your plants. To reduce costs consider plants that aren’t as particular about their soil type and go for 5-gallon pots instead of 7-gallon or 15-gallon.
-
We offer pre-emergent and fertilization treatments as part of our overall property care approach. However, we do not provide recurring weed control programs that rely on chemical herbicides.
If you’re specifically looking for ongoing, chemical-based weed control, we recommend reaching out to a licensed specialist in the area, such as ALM, who focuses exclusively on those services.
Our philosophy is centered on long-term plant health, soil care, and thoughtful maintenance—not routine chemical applications.
-
Weeds are addressed through hands-on, mechanical garden bed maintenance, not blanket chemical treatments.
As part of our garden bed care, our team uses specialized tools to remove visible weeds and help keep growth in check between visits. In select situations—such as when a weed is growing tightly among desirable plants—we may hand pull to avoid damaging surrounding plant material.
Hand pulling is not our standard approach, but it is used intentionally and selectively when tools aren’t appropriate. This allows us to care for your landscape thoughtfully while protecting the plants you want to keep.
-
Yes—selectively, for clearly defined seasonal or one-time needs. These are best for isolated projects, not ongoing upkeep. Availability can vary by season and schedule.
-
Yes. Ongoing maintenance services are available to customers within a 5-mile radius of our shop in Norfolk. If you’re outside that area, we may still be able to help with seasonal services or landscape design.
-
Yearly Care Plans start at $395/month for a medium-sized property with standard access. Final pricing is based on property size, access, scope, and visit frequency.
-
No—we do not offer negotiation-based pricing. Our pricing reflects the planning, labor, quality, and expertise required to care for properties properly.
-
In most cases, yes. New customers typically require an on-site assessment so we can quote accurately and align the scope to your property’s actual needs.
-
Photos, videos, measurements (if you have them), and inspiration images are extremely helpful. The more context you share upfront, the better we can tailor the plan.

Fees and Payments
How is my pricing determined?
Pricing includes four components – The difficulty of your land, the expertise of the team providing your service, the types of materials and plants you choose, and the scope of the project.
What should you expect to be charged for?
Drainage and Pond Assessments & Landscape Design Consultations
Step 1: Assessment + Initial Consultation (fee required to reserve your appointment)
Every project starts with an Assessment + Initial Consultation. This is a one-time fee that’s collected at the time of booking to reserve dedicated time on our schedule and ensure our team arrives prepared. During this visit, we’ll evaluate your property, discuss your goals, take notes and measurements as needed, and gather the information required to recommend the right approach.
Step 2: Design Concept Quote (after your appointment)
After we’ve gathered everything during the assessment, we’ll provide a quote for a Design Concept based on the scope and complexity of your project. This quote covers the time and expertise required to create a thoughtful, customized plan for your property.
Step 3: Deposit to Begin Drafting (50% due to start)
If you’d like us to move forward with drafting your Design Concept, 50% of the design concept total is due to begin work. This deposit reserves dedicated design time on our schedule. Once payment is received, our team will begin drafting your concept plan.
Step 4: Live Design Review + Copies + Revisions
When your draft concept is ready, we’ll schedule a time to review it with you live. We’ll walk through the design together, answer questions, and discuss any adjustments you’d like. You’ll receive both an electronic copy and a physical copy of the concept plan. Your design concept includes up to two revisions based on your feedback.
Step 5: Final Concept Approval + Project Quote
Once the final concept is approved, we’ll prepare and send your overall project quote for installation/work to move forward.
If you move forward with Gardens by Oz:
If you proceed with the project, we’ll credit your Assessment + Initial Consultation fee toward your final project total.
Seasonal Services
Looking for a comprehensive yard clean up? We’ve got ya! The final price for a yard clean up service will vary depending on the size of your yard, the amount of crew members needed for the project, and the type and amount of debris on the ground.
Custom Landscape Design and Installation
For landscape design and installation projects, you can expect to find in your quote a fee for the landscape design itself. Industry standard by professionals is around $1,000 to $10,000 depending on the project. At Gardens, we do smaller designs for as low as $500. You can find online design services that utilize AI or generic designs for less than $500. These usually don’t produce anything specific to your desires, or region, but are certainly an option if you want to get ideas.
Security Deposits
Project Reservation Deposit & Payment Schedule
A 50% Project Reservation Deposit is due at the time of booking. This deposit allows our team to begin project coordination, order materials and plants, and secure your installation dates on our calendar.
The remaining 50% balance will be due at the time of your final walkthrough upon project completion.
Cancellations & materials:
If you need to cancel before work begins, your deposit is refundable. If materials have already been ordered for your project, you are responsible for the cost of those materials (and any restocking fees, if applicable).
Change orders:
Any additions or changes must be approved before we proceed with the execution and will be included in the final invoice (due at the final walkthrough).
Invoicing and Payments
Final invoicing for all projects will be issued upon project completion, with the exception of Yearly Care Plan visits, which will be charged at the beginning of each month. Invoices are due within 15 days of issuance and will be subjected to a late fee charge past the due date.
We accept ACH, all major credit cards, checks, and Venmo for payments.
